There are many tools available online which provide great keyword research with in-depth analysis, but there comes a common problem, most of them are paid tools!
Finding an effective free keyword research tool is difficult.
Thanks to Ubersuggest and other some tools which are available for free. They might not serve all those things that paid tools do, but surely they can solve your queries related to keyword research together.
Hey there, I’m Madhusudan Somani, and you are reading this post on MSS Articles, let’s dive in…
Here is the list of tools I’ll be talking about in this article (click on the tools to navigate faster). You can start your keyword research journey using these free tools.
We’ll be using the keyword “Keyword Research Tool” for representation in these 10 tools. (I sequenced these tool randomly, just for ease of reading, so don’t take it as best to worst like order)
- SE Ranking
- Keyword Tool(Free)
- Answer the Public
- Google Trends
- Keyword Sheeter
1. Ubersuggest – Free Keyword Tool
Thanks to Neil Patel for managing this nice SEO analysis tool and providing for free. It’s a great tool if you don’t want to spend money on keyword analysis but want to have much information, so that you can create your content strategy.
It gives almost all details which an average paid keyword research tool can provide. In its analysis page, we get the data about the trend, volume, CPC, paid difficulty, SEO difficulty and much more about the entered keyword as well as related keywords.
2. Serpstat – Keyword Research
This is another best keyword research tool, which you can use for free. Although this is the free version of Sertstat paid plans but offers a lot in the free plan.
When I searched for “keyword research tool”, then it showed Google, Bing and even Microsoft as my competitors. So sometimes, we can’t just rely completely on its analysis.
The best thing in this tool is again its design. Also, it does not prompt again and again to buy paid plans, which is irritating, right?
3. SE Ranking – Keyword Suggestion Tool
This is another free keyword analysis tool by SE Ranking. This tool is also available for free. SE Ranking provides 2 weeks free trial for each service, but I’m not sure whether this tool is on a free trial or forever free. If you know then let us know in the comments.
This tool is also easy to use and have nice and simple design like Serpstat. But it might be a little bit confusing about the results. It shows only 10 similar keywords in the free plan. One good thing is that it lets you know about the top 100 pages, which rank in the organic result and paid result separately.
4. SEMrush – Keyword Analytics
Who doesn’t know the power of SEMrush in SEO? Anyone who ever used any keyword research tool to analyze and create their keyword strategy will find this tool as the best one.
Although all features are available in the paid plan. Their free plan contains a limited amount of data, but that is enough for normal keyword research.
5. Keyword Tool(Free) – Google Keyword Planner Alternative
This is a tool, which I personally don’t use. When you search for a keyword in this tool, firstly it will show you only some of the keyword matches and you can’t see their matrics data with the free plan.
But since it is free and some keyword matches it provides are effective, so I included in this list of top 10 free Keyword Research Tool.
6. SEObook – Keyword Suggestion Tool
This is another keyword research tool which is available for free. When I used this tool, at first I didn’t like this tools UI because of its too much simple (basic) design.
But this tool provides a good set of related keywords. And it’s simple design is its plus point in another aspect.
It provides data about US and UK only. Since for most of the bloggers, traffic from these two locations is mostly prefered so this tool deserved a chance to be listed here and so it is.
7. Answer the Public – Free Visual Keyword Research
This one is my favourite and a great app for finding keyword phrases. Answer the Public finds all the keyword phrases which can be made with the entered keyword.
It distinguishes the result in Questions, Prepositions, Comparisons, Related keyword and organises in a very efficient way as you can see above. It also gives a list of possible related keyword phrases sorted alphabetically.
You can not find results based on different geo-locations in the free version, but this tool is very unique in itself.
When we talk about SEO and keyword research, how can we forget Google? Yes, Google is also very beneficial for finding real data about any keyword.
Google Trends is a platform where one can see data about what is the status of a search query on Google, is it trending or going down, by what extent?
This tool is completely free and provides you with real-time real data about any keyword. You can search based on location also. Along with a trending graph, it also shows you what related keywords are also trending but they are limited to 25 only.
In short, it is an essential tool for planning your next content or blog post to get better results.
9. Soovle – Let the Web Help
This is another tool to find keyword phrases. With Soovle, you can find some keyword phrases based on individual search engine like Google, Youtube, Amazon etc.
I don’t really use it, because I need keywords mostly based on Google. But for those, who run an eCommerce website or video channel etc this tool may be useful. But you can get other better tools also. If you know such a tools, let me know in the comments below.
10. Keyword Sheeter – Bulk Keyword Tool
Now, this is the last tool in this series. As the name suggests, Keyword Sheeter generates keyword phrases based on your given keyword.
This tool is free and generates endlessly keyword phrases until you manually stop it by clicking on “Stop Sheeting” button.
But since there are too many keywords sorted randomly so it’s difficult to get better phrases from this tool. This tool doesn’t give you any analysis of keywords as it generated random related keywords.
So these were the top 10 keyword research tools which I found free. Whenever I’ll find any new free tool, I’ll update this list.
Some of these tools may not provide better functionality alone, but if we use them along with any other keyword tool then we can get better results. For example, we can use Google Trends key-phrases with Soovle or Keyword Sheeter to get related keywords which are currently trending. And can analyse the keyword with SEMrush or Ubersuggest etc.
So if you have just started and want to go free, then consider these tools. If you know any other tool, which I forgot to mention here, let me know in the comments below.
